Cortney Bloomer

Destination Development Manager, Travel Nevada

Cortney grew up in rural West Virginia, but relocated to Dayton, Nevada soon after receiving her master’s degree in public health from West Virginia University. She has spent the past 15 years exploring her adopted home state.  

In her previous roles as the Public Information Officer for Carson City Health and Human Services, Western Nevada Safe Routes to Schools Coordinator, and the Food Systems Manager at Healthy Communities Coalition, Cortney collaborated with stakeholders from rural communities to develop programs and build coalitions to achieve shared goals. She is excited and inspired by the opportunities Destination Development offers to interact with Nevadans, community leaders, partner agencies, and non-profit organizations. 

Cortney brings a wealth of grant knowledge. As the Destination Development Manager, she loves working with rural Nevada communities to promote the Destination Development Program and secure funding to invigorate efforts around tourism and economic development.  

Cortney has also served as a television host for local broadcast news magazine ‘It’s Your City’ and on several local and state Boards, including the Board of Directors for Muscle Powered- Citizens for a Walkable and Bikeable Carson City, the Governor’s Council on Food Security, and the Nevada Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. When she is not working, Cortney’s hobbies include trail running, mountain biking, and equestrian pursuits on trails throughout the State.
