Kim Steed started her photography journey in her 30s when documenting her son’s wrestling events. In 2018, she shifted focus to nature and wildlife photography when she and her husband moved to Carson Valley to be close to family. It deepened her love of the outdoors and capturing the spirit of the American West—from dramatic landscapes and iconic ranch scenes, to birds, wild horses, rodeo events, and even night photography. Her goal is to push beyond traditional representations to creating images that are vivid, evocative, personal, and tell a story.
