Brian Fitzgerald

Carson Valley Arts Council (CVAC) President

Brian has been working as a parks and recreation professional for over 40 years. For 30 years he was employed with Douglas County, Nevada, working primarily as the Assistant Director for the Community Services Department. Brian retired in January, 2020.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. For seven years Brian was heavily involved in the Nevada Recreation and Park Society (NRPS), holding several elected positions including President and serving on committees including the NRPS Strategic Plan. He is a graduate of Leadership Douglas County and served a three-year term on the board of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Authority. Formed in 2004, the Carson Valley Arts Council (CVAC) has focused on enhancing arts programming opportunities and creating a home for the arts in Carson Valley. Brian joined CVAC in its first year, and for 19 years he has taken a leadership role as an arts advocate and currently holds the position of CVAC President.
