Echoes in the Desert: Nevada’s Forgotten Ghost Towns
Nevada has more than 600 ghost towns. In addition, there were thousands of mining camps, stage and railroad stations, and mines across the Silver State.
Visitors and history focus on a handful of ghost towns—such as Berlin, Rhyolite, and Belmont—but many explorers and historians have forgotten the smaller sites with their ruins and history hidden for more than a century in the Nevada desert.
Tami Force will share photos, stories, and even a few cautionary tales for those looking to explore the Silver State’s lesser-known ghost towns. She has recently published two books on the subject and her experience will be an inspiration for anyone feeling uncertain about their ability to accomplish similar goals. As she says, “I know I’m not the best photographer or writer. What I am is a great researcher and a bulldog with a story!”
*Copies of Tami’s book will be available for purchase at FOCUS, with an opportunity for book signing.
