California Trail Interpretive Center

Step back in time for a hands-on journey through the days of the Gold Rush. This immersive experience at the Trail Center blends history with craft, offering a unique look at life on the California Trail. Space is limited.

*This activity will depart from the Elko Convention Center. A complimentary shuttle will be provided from the Elko Convention Center to the activity location and back. Complimentary shuttle service is also available between the host hotels and the Elko Convention Center.

“Gold Fever” Guided Tour Trace the footsteps of the pioneers in this specialized program. You’ll be introduced to the frantic early days of the California Gold Rush and discover what daily life was truly like for those seeking their fortunes on the trail.

Artisanal Soap-Making Workshop Bring a piece of the trail home with you! In this fun, interactive workshop, you will:

  • Design: Choose your own custom colors and scents.
  • Craft: Learn the “melt and pour” technique to create a unique bar.
  • Take Home: A one-of-a-kind souvenir made by your own hands.

Pony Express Exchange Weather Permitting | 3:30 PM Don’t miss the excitement of a live Pony Express exchange—a high-energy tribute to the legendary mail service of the Old West.
